Gourmand
A gourmand fragrance is a perfume consisting primarily of synthetic edible (gourmand) notes, such as honey, chocolate, vanilla or candy. These top and middle notes may be blended with non-edible base notes such as patchouli, musk or tonka bean. They have been described as olfactory desserts.
Gourmand fragrances incorporate synthetic edible notes, creating a delicious, sweet, or even savory olfactory experience. These fragrances are often described as "olfactory desserts" or "foodie fragrances" because they evoke the scents of common, consumable items like vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and coffee.
Key characteristics of gourmand fragrances:
The defining feature is the presence of notes that are reminiscent of food, such as vanilla, caramel, chocolate, honey, nuts, or even savory notes like coffee or popcorn. While they can be savory, gourmand fragrances are often associated with sweetness, making them a popular choice for those who enjoy a comforting and indulgent scent.
Gourmand fragrances can be simple or complex, with some incorporating other notes like floral, musk, or woodsy elements to balance out the sweetness and add depth.
